A foodie review for Fifty Trees, Johor Bahru.
Kickstarting my holidays with a cafe on my To-Go list: Fifty Trees Cafe.
Out with the childhood buddy for a quick catching up and even though it was just 6, we still managed to catch the beautiful fairy lights decorations going on at the exterior of the cafe :’)
Fifty Tree’s interior designs are nothing short of amazing too. A pretty open concept, with lesser walls and more windows, made the entire space spacious and clean. The cafe holds lots of seatings for groups of 2, 3, or even more than 6.
Moving on, it’s FOOD time!
Ooh does that glass look familiar to you? I’ve seen it appearing a few times on @coffeetized and was so glad that Fifty Trees imported them into JB!
Just as the design of the glass suggests, this order is called the Dare Devil.
Honestly, I was pretty excited to try this out! Was picturing it to be something very bitter, something which may make me question why did I pick it but nope, it was one of the most unique coffee I’ve ever tasted! A sweet beginning, slightly milky yet tasteful. The coffee kicks in more towards the end and just leaves you with a lingering aroma of it.
So buddy was craving for some Tiramisu, and I guess it was indeed a craving satisfied for us! With double layers of puffy ladyfingers biscuits, some cream and flavourful layers of cocoa powder, this dessert combination really “lifted us up”.
Lastly, what’s a cafe trip without getting some waffles!
There were 3 waffle options on the menu, one vanilla and another with pomegranate but for me, nothing beats dark chocolate. The caramelized bananas were indeed the highlights of this dessert! It gave the bananas a crispy layer, and the sweet and bitter combination made it really savoury.
If you are planning a day trip to JB anytime soon, do add them to your list! They are located near KSL Mall or Holiday Plaza, and just a few minutes drive from the Sg Checkpoint.
Will defo be back.
Visit them!
